We have a great opportunity for a Business Development Manager to join our team in the Manchester office. Menzies Marketing/BD Team requires a dynamic and proactive Business Development (BD) Manager to drive growth and embed a BD culture across the Northwest. You will be part of a team of BD and marketing specialists who have built a strong reputation, both internally and externally. The role will be based at our Manchester office with occasional visits to other offices.

The individual will support Partners/Directors with their personal BD plans, build a strong pipeline across Manchester, Birmingham and Lancashire and support on BD projects firmwide. The role combines strategic planning, relationship management, market development, working closely with the marketing team, Partners/Directors to deliver measurable revenue growth and strengthen the firm’s market position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Partners/Directors to develop and implement individual and team business development plans aligned to strategic growth objectives.
  • Provide proactive support in identifying target clients, referral sources and growth opportunities.
  • Facilitate account planning sessions and support the development of key client growth strategies.
  • Monitor progress against BD plans, providing regular reporting, insight and recommendations.
  • Coach and support Partners/Directors on business development activity, pipeline management and relationship‑building initiatives.
  • BD reporting and monitoring ROI.
  • Identify, qualify and develop new business opportunities across Manchester, Lancashire and Birmingham.
  • Provide support and embed HubSpot use across the offices.
  • Support the delivery of firmwide BD campaigns, growth programmes and strategic projects.
  • Undertake client feedback and align with key account management programmes for the North West.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

We’re looking for someone who’s organised, proactive and passionate about marketing. If you enjoy building relationships, managing multiple projects and making a real impact, we’d love to hear from you! You’ll ideally have:

  • 5+ GCSEs (A–C/Grade 4 or above), including English and Maths.
  • A CIM qualification or Marketing degree is a bonus, but it’s not essential.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a B2B marketing environment, with professional services or business development experience being advantageous.

You’ll bring:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and great project management abilities.
  • Commercial awareness with the confidence to make informed decisions.
  • The ability to build strong relationships with colleagues, clients and stakeholders.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office and CRM systems such as HubSpot.
  • A proactive mindset with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • A positive, adaptable approach and a willingness to support the wider team.

A few practical bits: You’ll be based in our Manchester office, with occasional visits to our Lancashire and Birmingham locations. Some travel to other Menzies offices will also be required.
