We have a great opportunity for a VAT Compliance Assistant Manager within our Outsourced Accounting Services to join our team in the London office. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing part of our business in a management role, leading a portfolio of clients while helping to develop and support a high-performing Financial Outsourcing team. With a strong focus on VAT compliance and advisory, you'll work with a diverse range of UK VAT registered businesses, both in the UK and internationally. You'll build trusted client relationships, provide expert guidance, and play a key role in delivering an exceptional client experience while supporting the continued growth of the team and service line.

Key Responsibilities

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

  • Manage a diverse portfolio of clients, delivering VAT compliance and advisory services tailored to their needs.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Financial Outsourcing professionals, ensuring high-quality work and a positive team culture.
  • Advise clients on UK and cross-border VAT matters, including import VAT, PIVA, and the international trade of goods and services.
  • Build trusted client relationships, managing priorities, deadlines, and expectations with confidence.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the firm to deliver a seamless, joined-up service spanning outsourcing, tax, accounts, and advisory.
  • Support the team's commercial success by delivering excellent client service while meeting financial and operational objectives.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Qualifications: ACA, ACCA or CTA qualified is desirable, but we're equally happy to consider candidates who are qualified by experience.
  • Skills & Experience: Strong UK VAT compliance knowledge, including experience with cross-border VAT. Experience preparing and reviewing VAT returns. Confident using cloud-based accounting software. Previous experience managing a client portfolio and building strong client relationships. Experience leading, coaching, and developing a team. Commercially minded, organised, and able to adapt to a variety of client needs.
