Menzies Distribution Solutions are currently looking for a Transport Administrator to join our team based in Droitwich. This role also covers shunting duties from time to time, so a HGV Class 1 Licence is required. Having previous transport related administration and customer service experience gained within a fast-paced distribution environment, the ideal candidate would be flexible and accounting administration would be an advantage.

  • Salary: £40,000 - £42,000 Per Annum (dependant on experience)
  • Pattern: Monday - Friday Nights
  • Start Times: 18:00
  • Hours Per Week: 42 average

Key Duties and Accountabilities

  • Engage all external and internal customers by communicating in a friendly and professional manner ensuring that a good impression is maintained at all times.
  • Answering and responding to all incoming calls/emails in a prompt and polite manner.
  • Ensure all internal/external customer queries or concerns are dealt with in a professional, friendly and courteous manner.
  • Liaising with the management team ensuring the smooth operation of the transport department.
  • Monitor and chase documentation in support of the transport operation.
  • Produce statistics as and when required.
  • Undertake administrative and filing duties to meet needs of the Transport Department.
  • Dealing with customer orders ensuring quality accuracy, delivery timelines, instruction and communication to all depot staff.
  • Dealing with customer and supplier enquiries and complaints from investigation through to closure.
  • Ensuring that customer requirements are administered in a timely controlled and recorded manner.
  • Ensuring that all work carried out is accounted for and processes for accurate charging and auditable trail are in place and followed.

Shunting Duties:

  • Supporting the depot by loading & unloading onsite trailers.
  • To carry out vehicle and trailer safety checks prior to commencement of shift complying with appropriate documentation and procedures.
  • Ensure vehicle load is safe, secure and correctly positioned.
  • Correctly check and accept load documentation and delivery paperwork.
  • Correctly check in any returned goods and ensure paperwork is accurate.
  • Operate vehicle safely, ensuring driver actions do not endanger self or other road users.
  • Undertake any other reasonable job instruction to support the supply of a quality service to the customer.
  • Ratchet, Strap & corner management duties.

Key Experiences and Qualifications

  • Excellent computer literacy (Microsoft Office, Word & Excel).
  • Previous administration experience.
  • Good numeric skills – including accuracy.
  • HGV Class 1 Licence Required.
