Menzies Distribution Solutions are currently looking for an experienced Transport Operator to join our busy team based in Corby. The purpose of this role is to be responsible for managing and executing the Day 1 Plan ensuring all work is distributed whilst complying with Transport Legislation, Health & Safety and customer service requirements. You will ensure that the drivers deliver the customer’s products on time and in full using the most cost‑effective means possible and best use of available resources and ensuring Transport Planner is aware of any need to manipulate the plan.
You will be responsible for Tracking and Tracing all runs live to ensure that once dispatched the drivers arrive at the customer premises within the agreed time windows, and managing any day 1 for 1 issues / delays accordingly. System compliance – Ensuring that all jobs are built, resourced and managed correctly in TMS system, POD Images are clear and correct, and de‑brief both manually and through InMotion is accurate and up to date.

Transport Operator Duties
- Liaise with planners to ensure that all relevant deliveries are met within requested delivery windows.
- Close relationship with the Pallet Force Team to understand and confirm driver dispatch has occurred at planned times.
- Live Track and trace of all own fleet vehicles, ensuring all comms and any issues are raised through the correct channels, with corrective actions confirmed and communicated back to Transport planner.
- Liaise with Customers as required in relation to delays and possible issues with delivery through customer service team or through Out of hours process.
- Manage all comms on the Subcontractors Portal for day 1 plan.
- Regular check of online messages to identify and capture 3rd party subbie issues on the road.
- Feed Back any issues on the road to the Transport planner, ensuring up‑to‑date information and ETAs are known for re‑planning of any delayed consignments.
- Monitor Compliance on TMS system, challenging any driver behaviour affecting live information being visible on the system.
- Be fully trained and aware of operating Processes for driver tracking systems and any other associated software.
- Play a key role in Revenue capture process, ensuring returns and re‑deliveries are processed correctly and demurrage is charged accurately when appropriate.
Key Experience and Qualifications

- Experience in Day 1 for Day 2 Preferred.
- Knowledge of Drivers Hours, Tachograph and WTD legislation.
- Good standard of education.

- Knowledge of Health & Safety.
- Hold a full UK driving licence.
