We have an exciting opportunity for a Transport Planning Apprentice to join our East Kilbride operation. Whilst studying SVQ in Logistics Operations at SCQF Level 7, the apprentice will also be learning how to arrange the delivery of the customer’s product on time and in full using the most cost-effective means possible and best use of available resources, whilst complying with Transport Legislation and Health & Safety.

Maximising the utilisation of the Menzies Fleet through efficient planning of deliveries and collections as well as maximising utilisation of Menzies drivers in line with current driver’s hours and WTD legislation.

  • Annual wage: £22,646 Per Annum
  • Schedule - Monday - Friday
  • Hours: 08:00 – 16.30
  • Hours Per Week: 40
  • Location: East Kilbride Depot, Menzies 47 Fairfield Place, Glasgow G74 5LP
  • You will be paid on a monthly basis
  • Start date: June/July 2026

Apprenticeship Details

  • Training course - SVQ in Logistics Operations at SCQF Level 7
  • Duration - Up to 12 Months

Key Duties and Accountabilities (which you will be supported in)

  • Maintenance and Management of the Transport Management System (TMS).
  • Ensure effective and efficient use of driver and vehicle resources.
  • Ensuring customer requirements are administered.
  • Liaise, support and develop effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Promote effective and efficient standards of work, in order to comply with transport legislation, company policy and Health & Safety legislation.
  • Managing Driver hours, WTD rules.
  • Preparing and submitting various KPI reports.
  • Undertake any other duties that are reasonably requested.

Key Experience and Qualifications

  • Experience of working in the Transport industry (desirable)
  • Good standard of education
  • IT literate

Technical skills and behavioural competencies

  • Good communication skills are essential with the ability to express empathy with customers.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Strong geographical knowledge (desirable).
  • Good ‘people skills’ for working with a range of colleagues and customers.
  • Ability to work on own initiative, demonstrates organisational skills.
  • Commitment to course, role and site objectives.
