Location: Normanton, Wakefield
Menzies Distribution Solutions is looking for an experienced Transport Supervisor to join our team based in Wakefield. The role involves executing transport plans to achieve transport and network SLA’s/KPI’s, developing efficient routes, maximizing vehicle capacity, ensuring work distribution complies with transport legislation, health & safety, and customer service requirements, delivering products on time and in full using cost-effective means, and optimizing Menzies Drivers’ utilisation in line with driver hours and WTD legislation.

Transport Supervisor Duties
- Ensure Site Planners plan all relevant customer deliveries using available software to meet delivery windows.
- Liaise with customers regarding delays and delivery issues.
- Develop back haul lanes with Menzies depots and third‑party customers while maintaining fleet utilisation.
- Coordinate a late load report in line with operational requirements and deadlines.
- Ensure drivers comply with the Working Time Directive.
- Ensure drivers download Driver cards for analysis regularly.
- Ensure Site Planners comply with all transport legislation, reducing tachograph infringements below the company target and adhering to WTD regulations.
- Communicate routes to and liaise with other Menzies depots.
- Acknowledge and manage any delivery delays and issues through Site Planner liaison.
- Source local agency drivers and sub‑contractors as required, providing accurate job briefs.
- Ensure Site Planners confirm that loads meet safety standards.
- Manage Site Planners to use the most efficient start times.
- Conduct adequate pre‑briefing of drivers to ensure clear instructions.
- Conduct adequate de‑briefing of drivers to confirm correct documentation.
- Ensure compliance with the Agency Driver checklist.
- Record trailer information on all inbound/outbound deliveries and stationary trailers.
- Fully understand and communicate agreed KPI’s for the department.
- Perform all other transport office related duties.
- Ensure drivers are appropriately trained and familiarised with operations and equipment.
- Deputise for the manager on daily plan/do/review calls when required.
- Liaise with and provide feedback to driver agencies for ad‑hoc and peak driver support.
