Edinburgh with remote/online consultations Hours: Part-Time - 20 hours per week, with scope to increase to full-time Specialism: General Psychiatry / Addiction Psychiatry Job Type: Permanent / Part-Time About the Opportunity\n An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join an established private healthcare provider specialising in the treatment of substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions . \n The role offers an opportunity to work within a supportive, multidisciplinary environment, providing consultant-level clinical care to adults accessing outpatient rehabilitation services. \n The successful candidate will work across a combination of face-to-face clinics in Edinburgh and online consultations , providing flexibility alongside a varied and clinically rewarding caseload. The Role\n As Consultant Psychiatrist, you will provide direct clinical care and consultant-level medical leadership within the service. \n You will work closely with medical colleagues, nursing staff, therapists and senior management to ensure the safe, effective and timely assessment and treatment of patients presenting with psychiatric, addiction and co-occurring mental health needs. n Assess mental health, substance use, relevant physical health factors, risk and treatment needs. \n Provide ongoing psychiatric reviews, treatment planning and risk management. \n Prescribe and manage pharmacological treatments in line with relevant clinical guidelines and policies. \n Contribute to the medical oversight of detoxification and stabilisation programmes. \n Contribute to clinical governance, audit, incident reviews and quality improvement initiatives. \n Liaise with residential, inpatient and community services where appropriate. \n Provide clinical advice and consultant-level support to other medical staff where required. \n Maintain compliance with professional, regulatory and organisational standards. \n About You\n We are looking for an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist with a strong background in working with adults experiencing substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions . n Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register in General Psychiatry or another relevant psychiatry specialty. \n Previous substantive appointment as an NHS Consultant Psychiatrist, or equivalent consultant-level experience meeting relevant recognition requirements. \n Experience in the assessment and treatment of adults with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. \n Appropriate medical indemnity cover for independent consultant practice. \n Desirable\n \n Existing recognition with AXA Health, Aviva, Vitality or other major UK private medical insurers. \n Experience in clinical governance, audit and quality improvement. \n An interest in teaching, supervision or service development. \n Working Environment\n You will join an experienced and supportive multidisciplinary team consisting of medical, nursing and therapy professionals. \The role provides an excellent opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist looking for a flexible part-time position combining face-to-face and remote clinical work .
