Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry required for a community.

On a day-to-day basis the Consultant Psychiatrist will be in a close working relationship with the Community Mental Health Team. They will have a close working relationship on clinical matters with the multi-disciplinary team and provide important liaison with the Duty & Triage Team, and other doctors in Primary and Secondary Care including the Home Treatment Team.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Providing direct psychiatric services through comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, care planning and treatment formulation, as well as guidance on evidence-based treatment and effectiveness.
  • Treatment planning and regular reviews in the community that comprehensively address the bio-psychosocial needs of patients.
  • Providing psychiatric leadership to the multidisciplinary team and clinical leadership in collaboration with the team leader.
  • Serving as psychiatric liaison with other agencies particularly with regard to continuity of patient care. This is particularly important in complex cases when liaison and collaborative working with other services/agencies is necessary.
  • Assuring the involvement of families and carers wherever possible with the patients consent in treatment planning.

Full time preferably (but part time would be considered).
