Contract Type: Full-time (37.5 hours per week)

We are working with a leading independent mental health provider to recruit a Consultant Psychiatrist to join a well-established inpatient service in the Nottingham area. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive multidisciplinary team within an acute and psychiatric intensive care (PICU) setting, providing care to adults experiencing a range of complex mental health conditions. The service is set within extensive grounds and offers a structured, therapeutic environment focused on recovery, dignity, and personalised care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership and medical oversight for patients within an acute inpatient ward
  • Act as Responsible Clinician for patients detained under the Mental Health Act (1983)
  • Lead multidisciplinary ward rounds, risk reviews, and care planning meetings
  • Contribute to pre-admission assessments and referral processes
  • Support formulation, diagnosis, and treatment planning for complex presentations
  • Ensure delivery of safe, effective, and person-centred care within a therapeutic milieu
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to support recovery-focused outcomes

Requirements

  • GMC registration with inclusion on the Specialist Register (essential)
  • CCST/CCT (or equivalent) in Psychiatry
  • Experience working within inpatient mental health settings
  • Strong understanding of the Mental Health Act (1983) and associated responsibilities
  • Excellent clinical, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care
