MECHANICAL ENGINEER is required by our Client, an Oil and Gas operator, to be assigned on a contract basis, based in El Merk, Algeria.

DURATION: 1 year Renewable

ROTATION: 28 Days On x 28 Days Off

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for technical contribution and oversight to the Preventative and Corrective maintenance activities for the Central Production Facility in order to ensure long-term reliability of rotating and static equipment.
  • Monitors and tracks Contractor activities during the maintenance of static and rotating equipment and machinery.
  • Identifies reliability and availability issues and creates plans to improve in these areas.
  • Reviews vibration monitoring and MMS system information for major rotating equipment, recommends corrective actions and long-term improvements.
  • Assists in Shutdown and Major Maintenance preparation activities related to Mechanical maintenance.
  • Provides support to the Maintenance Mechanical services and engineering discipline and provides technical leadership for the development and implementation of preventative maintenance programs for all types of industrial mechanical and rotating systems and equipment such as compressors, turbines, and pumps.
  • This includes the review and planning to ensure spare parts availability.
  • Provides input, support & approval into the design / engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction, inspection & testing, installation, commissioning & start-up of the company’s facilities.
  • Mentoring and development of more junior members of the team.

EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering required.
  • Over 10 years of experience in the engineering and/or construction of large petrochemical, oil and/or gas production facilities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of preventative and predictive maintenance of industrial mechanical and rotating systems and equipment.
  • Ability to use and interpret reports from all precision-measuring devices and perform precision-alignment on multiple equipment types.
  • Experience reading, interpreting and maintaining mechanical drawings, MFDs, PFDs, P&IDs and other complex diagrams.
  • In-depth knowledge of plant maintenance procedures and equipment diagnostics.
  • Prefer to have experience of a wide range of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques plus experience of Commissioning systems and pre-commissioning oversight.
