The Job Role Details:
Reporting to the company Owner, as the Vegetable Crop Sprayer Operator you will lead the crop spraying programme and support fieldwork operations across a diverse range of vegetable crops. You\’ll play a key role in ensuring plant health and crop quality are maintained to the highest standards throughout the season.
Key Responsibilities:
You will…
* Lead spraying operations across 200Ha of brassica and other fresh produce crops, maintaining accurate records for compliance and audit readiness.
* Operate and maintain modern sprayers and associated farm machinery.
* Assist with groundwork, weeding, and general fieldwork as required.
* Liaise with the Owner and agronomy team to ensure optimal spray timing and application accuracy.
* Support additional operations during peak times, including harvesting and yard work.
Ideal Person Skills & Qualifications:
You will have / be…
* PA1, PA2, and PA4 qualified.
* Experience in fresh produce or vegetable cropping environments.
* Skilled in the safe and efficient operation of modern spraying equipment.
* BASIS qualified (desirable, not essential).
* A strong understanding of pesticide application, crop protection, and legislative compliance.
* Forklift trained.
* Familiar with field record-keeping, assurance schemes, and customer audit requirements.
* Capable of working flexibly to match crop and weather conditions – including weekends or early mornings as needed.
* A self-motivated, detail-oriented operator who can work alone or as part of a small team.
* Calm under pressure and solutions-focused.
