Could you be the driving force behind our thriving discussion groups? Join Farming Connect as our Discussion Group Officer for Mid & South East Wales and help create the networks, conversations and opportunities that enable farming businesses to learn, innovate and thrive.

Your role as Discussion Group Officer (Mid & South East Wales) will place you at the heart of one of Farming Connect's most valued services, bringing farmers together to share knowledge, explore new ideas and drive improvements within their businesses. You'll develop and support a dynamic network of discussion groups across the region, working closely with farmers, industry experts and stakeholders to create engaging opportunities for learning, collaboration and peer‑to‑peer knowledge exchange. From identifying emerging topics and organising events to building strong relationships with group members, you'll play a key role in ensuring discussion groups remain relevant, impactful and inspiring.

This is a highly rewarding role for someone who enjoys connecting people, facilitating meaningful conversations and helping farming businesses thrive. You'll have the opportunity to influence positive change across the agricultural sector, support innovation and contribute to the future success of farming communities throughout Mid and South East Wales. Every day will be different, combining relationship‑building, event coordination, stakeholder engagement and strategic development to ensure our discussion groups continue to deliver real value to Welsh farmers.

You will be a key member of the Development Team in the Mid & South East region, as well as the Wales team as a whole. You will also be co-working closely with all other teams within the Farming Connect programme.

You’ll play a pivotal role in building on the success of Farming Connect discussion groups, which have helped farmers across Wales improve productivity, profitability, sustainability and business resilience through peer‑to‑peer learning and the sharing of practical experience. By bringing people together, fostering valuable connections and creating opportunities for knowledge exchange, you’ll enable farmers to learn from one another, challenge their thinking and adopt new ideas with confidence. Your work will help create thriving networks that inspire positive change, support innovation and strengthen farming businesses and rural communities across Mid and South East Wales. The relationships, discussions and opportunities you facilitate will have a lasting impact far beyond individual meetings, helping shape a more prosperous and sustainable future for Welsh agriculture.

• At the time of advertising, the above programme and its roles are funded externally until 31/03/2029, with a possibility of extension until 31/03/2031.
• Type of contract: Open-ended.
• Work pattern: The role is advertised as part-time (0.8FTE, 30 hours per week).
• A full DBS will be required for this role.
