Are you an experienced Tractor Mechanic, Agricultural Service Engineer, Agricultural Technician or Farm Machinery Technician looking for a new opportunity where you can use your extensive practical knowledge?

An established education provider specialising in agriculture, engineering and land-based education is looking for an Engineering Support Technician to join its specialist engineering team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in tractor mechanics, farm machinery servicing and agricultural engineering who would enjoy supporting the next generation of agricultural engineers.

The Role

Working closely with the engineering lecturers, you will ensure that tractors, farm machinery, workshop equipment, tools and practical tasks are fully prepared and ready for teaching sessions.

You will provide practical support to lecturers and students during hands-on sessions, helping create a safe, organised and productive workshop environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing tractors, farm machinery and engineering equipment ready for practical student tasks.
  • Setting up machinery and components for servicing, maintenance, diagnostics, repair and overhaul activities.
  • Using your practical knowledge of tractor mechanics and agricultural machinery to support lecturers and students.
  • Supporting students during hands-on practical sessions, providing guidance and assistance where required.
  • Carrying out repairs and maintenance to tractors, farm machinery, workshop equipment and teaching resources.
  • Diagnosing and repairing equipment damaged or requiring attention following practical sessions.
  • Ensuring tools, workshop equipment, parts and consumables are available and ready for each session.
  • Keeping workshops, tractors, machinery and equipment clean, safe, tidy and well organised.
  • Supporting stock control and ensuring required parts and materials are available.
  • Maintaining high standards of workshop health & safety.
  • Preparing and resetting equipment between practical sessions.
  • Reporting significant machinery faults, damage or maintenance requirements to the engineering team.

Experience & Skills required

We're particularly interested in hearing from candidates with substantial hands-on experience working with tractors and agricultural machinery.

You could currently be working as a:

  • Tractor Mechanic / Agricultural Mechanic
  • Agricultural Service Engineer
  • Agricultural Technician
  • Farm Machinery Technician
  • Agricultural Machinery Engineer
  • Workshop Technician
  • Land-Based Engineering Technician

You may have spent many years servicing, repairing and maintaining tractors and farm machinery, working either for an agricultural machinery dealership, manufacturer, independent workshop or directly within the farming industry.

Experience with tractors, combines, loaders, cultivation equipment, harvest machinery and other farm machinery would be highly advantageous.

We're particularly keen to speak with experienced mechanics who have strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and diagnostic systems and are confident working on modern agricultural machinery.

No Teaching Experience Required

You do not need to be a teacher or have previous teaching experience.

The focus of this role is on your practical engineering and tractor/farm machinery expertise and your ability to support lecturers and students during hands-on learning.
