Barnet Council is seeking a qualified Adults Social Worker to join its Mental Health Hospital Discharge team, based in Colindale, NW9. This is a Prism-sourced interim role paying £23.50-£32.20 per hour, starting 6 July 2026.
You will deliver high-quality social work to adults and carers under the Care Act 2014, conducting Mental Capacity Act assessments, risk assessments, and strengths-based care and support planning with a focus on promoting independence and wellbeing. Working closely with hospital trusts, CCGs, and community services, you will manage an allocated caseload, chair reviews, and support timely hospital discharge. Safeguarding adults and embedding Making Safeguarding Personal principles are central to the role. You will also provide supervision to Assessment and Enablement Officers and contribute to team development.
Essential requirements:
- Registration with Social Work England
- CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent
- Demonstrable experience as a practising social worker with adults, including working within a comprehensive assessment framework
- Strong knowledge of the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, and the National Eligibility Framework
- Accredited Best Interest Assessor status is desirable
