Under direct supervision of the Program Manager, the role involves providing housing placement, support, and case management services for eligible homeless veteran families through outreach, assessment, and engagement of potential members. Key responsibilities include:
- Developing individualized case plans for each veteran household.
- Assisting veterans in obtaining employment or higher‑paying employment.
- Working with local landlords and property managers to identify suitable housing for local veterans.
- Updating and maintaining accurate case files in accordance with guidelines.
- Collaborating with members to establish a working budget for sustainability of housing.
- Providing follow‑up during the application process and acting as a housing counselor.
- Conducting individual and community‑based presentations regarding MHALA’s housing programs.
- Providing or arranging for regular home visits and community‑based referrals.
- Representing MHALA at community housing provider meetings.
Other position requirements include:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- One year of providing psychiatric rehabilitation services to a disabled population/low income and/or homeless population required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field preferred.
- Knowledge of health care, social service resource systems, and self‑help intervention strategies.
- Strong oral/written communication and listening skills.
- Proficient typing and computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Flexible work schedule to include some evenings or weekends when necessary.
