Under direct supervision of the Program Manager, the role involves providing housing placement, support, and case management services for eligible homeless veteran families through outreach, assessment, and engagement of potential members. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing individualized case plans for each veteran household.
  • Assisting veterans in obtaining employment or higher‑paying employment.
  • Helping veterans apply for benefits such as V.A. pension benefits and social security benefits.
  • Working with local landlords and property managers to identify suitable housing for veterans.
  • Updating and maintaining accurate case files in accordance with guidelines.
  • Collaborating with members to establish a working budget for sustainability of housing.
  • Interface with government, community, and private agencies to obtain rental subsidies and other resources.
  • Conducting individual and community‑based presentations regarding MHALA’s housing programs.
  • Providing necessary services for members moving into new housing.
  • Representing MHALA at community housing provider meetings and networking with other agencies.

Other position requirements include a High School diploma or GED, one year of providing psychiatric rehabilitation services, and preferred qualifications such as a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field. Candidates should possess knowledge of health care and social service resource systems, crisis intervention skills, and strong communication abilities.

Flexible work schedule may be required, including some evenings or weekends. TB clearance and re‑testing every year are conditions of continued employment. Employment verification from three past employers within the most recent 7‑year period is also required.
