Role Description
The Young Men's Mentoring & Programme Worker is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Norwich Area, United Kingdom. This role focuses on supporting young men through one-to-one mentoring, group activities, and structured programmes that build confidence, resilience, and life skills. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and delivering sessions, maintaining regular contact with participants, and creating a safe, non-judgmental environment that encourages openness and personal growth. The postholder will work closely with colleagues and partner organizations to coordinate referrals, signpost to specialist services, and ensure joined-up support. Administrative duties include keeping accurate records, monitoring outcomes, contributing to reports, and participating in team meetings, supervision, and training.
Qualifications
- Experience working with young people in mentoring, youth work, education, social care, or community settings.
- Strong interpersonal, active listening, and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with diverse young people.
- Ability to plan, facilitate, and evaluate group sessions and activities that promote wellbeing, social connection, and personal development.
- Understanding of safeguarding, professional boundaries, and confidentiality, with knowledge of relevant policies and procedures.
- Awareness of issues affecting young men’s mental health, identity, relationships, and life transitions, and commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
- Organizational and administrative skills, including maintaining records, monitoring outcomes, and using basic digital tools (email, word processing, spreadsheets).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing needs and priorities.
- Relevant qualification in youth work or related field.
