Menlo Security is the leader in Browser Security for human and agentic workforces.
Our mission is to enable humans and agents to connect, communicate, and collaborate securely, without compromise.
The Menlo Browser Security Platform protects organizations from cyberattacks by stopping threats across the web, documents, and email before they reach the user.
With Menlo Agent Runtime Security (MARS), that protection now extends to the AI agents working alongside every employee.
Menlo Security is trusted by major global businesses, including Fortune 500 companies and government agencies, to protect their most valuable asset, their data, and is backed by top-tier investors.
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Data Security & AI Engineering team.
In this role, you will bring strong systems engineering skills—ideally with hands‑on Chromium experience across core layers to build, expand, and harden the runtime capabilities that power Menlo's next‑generation AI security platform.
You will work at the intersection of browser engine internals, systems architecture, and AI security, expanding our detection surfaces to safeguard enterprise workforces and AI agents against modern threats like Prompt Injection (PI) and Shadow AI usage.
The role blends deep C++ browser engineering with work on Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, Chrome Dev Tools Protocol (CDP), and the cloud infrastructure supporting them.
You’ll collaborate closely with engineers across Chromium, AI, and security disciplines to ship high-performance, evasion‑resistant protections, leveraging AI‑assisted development tools to move fast while maintaining an uncompromising bar for quality and security.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain Chromium-based browser components in C++, working across layers such as content, browser, core, compositor, skia, and networking, that power Menlo's security and AI‑driven capabilities.
- Architect and embed controls for detecting Prompt Injection (PI) and managing Shadow AI activity directly within browser execution and agent workflows.
- Apply strong networking fundamentals and HTTP security expertise to harden Menlo's browser isolation, proxy/gateway intercepts, and network‑facing infrastructure.
- Partner with the MARS and AI teams to build and integrate AI agent capabilities and MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers into Menlo's security platform.
- Use Python or Rust to build supporting tooling, detection microservices, and prototypes alongside core C++ systems work.
- Deploy and operate the cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP) and orchestration (Kubernetes, Terraform) needed to run agent/MCP and threat‑detection workloads reliably.
- Debug and optimize performance‑critical, high‑scale systems across the browser and supporting backend infrastructure.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with product, security, and AI engineering teams to ship capabilities end‑to‑end.
- Apply AI‑assisted coding tools to accelerate development, testing, and code review as part of your daily workflow.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering with strong C++ systems programming skills.
- Strong networking fundamentals, including solid knowledge of HTTP security, web protocols and / or client‑side security architecture.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
Preferred / Nice to Have
- Experience across Chromium layers such as content, browser, core, compositor, skia, and networking (or equivalent large‑scale, high‑performance C++ systems experience).
- Experience or strong interest in AI/LLM security / guardrails domains (e. g., Prompt Injection defense, Shadow AI detection, intent classification, context aware DLP/PII detection, and agentic workflows).
- Python or Rust experience.
- Experience building or integrating AI agents, Chrome Dev Tools Protocol (CDP), and MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers.
- Experience with AWS, GCP, Terraform, Kubernetes, and Linux.
