We are building Asimov, an open source humanoid, with embodied intelligence. Our mission is to enable scalable general-purpose autonomy for real world problems (the 3Ds), through large-scale learning, multi-modal data, and robust control.
We are seeking a highly motivated Robotics Build Technician to join our growing team and play a pivotal role in bringing Asimov to life. This role is perfect for you if you like getting your hands dirty assembling electronics, welding brackets, or debugging CAN networks and want to work directly on cutting-edge robotic hardware.
Responsibilities- Perform precise mechanical and electrical integration: harness routing, PCB soldering, cable crimping, and component installation
- Actively identify mechanical or design flaws during assembly to improve reliability and scalability
- Build and test custom mounts, fixtures, and test rigs under tight timelines
- Support the construction of the final robot platform once components arrive (next 3 months)
- Maintain workshop cleanliness, organize build zones, and ensure safe, compliant operations
- Document every step clearly, e.g. including photo evidence tied to tickets or linear workflows
- Troubleshoot systems using automotive-style diagnostic methods (preferred background welcomed!)
- Work autonomously with minimal oversight, but excellence expected
- Experienced in mechanical fabrication and electronic circuitry
- Confident reading wiring schematics and interpreting layout drawings
- Proficient with hand tools, power tools, multimeters, and basic CAD views
- Skilled in harness prep, termination, and routing (crimping, heat-shrink, connectors)
- Familiarity with CAN bus communication and protocol analysis (a plus)
- Comfortable performing iterative rework and iteration-based problem solving
- Passionate about clean documentation and reproducible processes
- Preferably have prior experience in automotive, industrial equipment, or robotics fields
- Experience with chassis integration or vehicle-scale systems
- Knowledge of torque specs, tolerance stacking, and structural integrity checks
- Exposure to startup paced product cycles
