About the role
We are looking for a methodical, detail-focused Medical Records Co-ordinator to join our records team. This is a largely administrative role, with the great majority of your time spent on accurate, independent processing work rather than direct patient contact, so it suits someone who is happy getting their head down and working through detailed tasks without needing a highly social or fast-changing environment. You will be joining a close, established team of 11, with a good mix of experience levels, including colleagues who have been with us a long time alongside others who value the flexible part-time hours.
What you will be doing
- Updating and maintaining patient medical records, from registering new patients through to deactivating records when they leave
- Handling patient requests to access their own medical records
- Supporting authorised access requests from insurance companies
- Reading, coding and accurately logging correspondence, both paper and electronic
- Using anatomical and physiological knowledge to apply the correct codes and link related information on a patient’s record
- Keeping all patient files and related admin to the required quality standards, in line with information governance, GDPR and DPA regulations
