Background

15-minute appointments, 24 patients a day and a document team that handles more than 90% of incoming paperwork before it reaches a GP. This is a practice that has built its systems around giving doctors the time to practise good medicine. It is also a close team, where Partners and salaried GPs are treated as equals and newly qualified GPs are warmly welcomed.

Location

The practice sits on the edge of Yeovil, close to the Somerset and Dorset border, and serves a varied population that spans affluent and more deprived neighbourhoods and a broad mix of ages. Sherborne is around 15 minutes away by car, Crewkerne around 20 minutes, and Dorchester and Taunton both around 40 minutes.

The Practice

Established GP training practice, hosting GP registrars, medical students and student nurses. Mid-sized practice with a strong partnership team and a large salaried GP team. Clinical pharmacist, paramedic practitioners, health coaches and physiotherapists all based on site. Prescription team runs reports, arranges blood tests and handles chronic disease recalls. Inclusive culture where every member of staff has a voice, with shared coffee breaks built into the day. Rated Good by CQC.

Your Role

Laptops provided, so admin can be done from home when needed. 4-6 sessions per week. Freedom to front load or back load your 24 patients a day. Pro rata admin session under the BMA model contract, or payment in lieu if you would rather fit admin into clinical sessions. Paramedic practitioners carry out the bulk of home visits, and the PCN covers routine ward rounds. Typically one duty day per week (less when there's no holiday/sickness to cover), mostly telephone-based, supported by a same-day Acute Care Team. Scope to develop interests in minor surgery, coil fitting, joint injections and dermoscopy. Clear opportunities for Partnership in the future.
