This is a rare opening at a practice that has quietly built one of the most enviable working environments in the Swindon area. The practice follows BMA model working conditions, limits duty to half-day sessions, and has invested heavily in workflow systems that keep the daily letter burden to just 10 to 12 items per GP. If clinical work done well in a genuinely supportive setting is what matters most to you, this is worth reading.

Location: The practice is based in Swindon, in one of the town's more sought-after residential areas. It draws patients from across the surrounding region, including the more rural and affluent villages to the east. Swindon is commutable from Bristol (around 40 minutes), Oxford (around 45 minutes) and Cheltenham (around 55 minutes).

Practice: GP Training Practice, with registrars, FY2s and medical students. CQC-rated Good. Small practice with a pleasant, settled patient demographic and outstanding patient satisfaction scores. Modern purpose-built premises in excellent condition. Close knit team of Partner and Salaried GPs (three of which we recruited). Multidisciplinary clinical team including clinical pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, first contact physiotherapists, care coordinators and ANPs covering home visits and care home work. Excellent staff retention across the whole team. SystmOne.

Your Role:

  • 4-8 sessions available (looking to make two hires)
  • Half a session per week dedicated to admin, typically a morning, in addition to daily built-in admin time
  • 15-minute appointments throughout, with a balanced mix of same-day and pre-booked slots
  • Duty GP commitment limited to a single session a week, afternoon only, capped at 13 patients
  • Home visits covered by paramedics and the duty rota; routine GPs are not expected to do visits
  • No extended hours requirement, though Saturday sessions and early starts (with early finishes) are available for those who want them
  • Daily morning coffee break at 10.40am, a small but genuinely valued part of the practice culture
