This is an opportunity to join a genuinely growth-minded practice in a beautiful part of the East Midlands, with a clear and structured route to Partnership at the six-month mark. The practice is a GP Training Practice committed to becoming a training powerhouse, and they want a GP Trainer — or someone actively working towards that status — at the centre of that ambition. If you are passionate about clinical supervision, enjoy total triage, and want to be part of a team that is expanding and innovating rather than just maintaining, this is worth reading on.

The practice sits in the Derbyshire Dales, on the southern edge of the Peak District — one of the most attractive parts of the East Midlands to live and work in. Derby is around 20 minutes away, Uttoxeter approximately 20 minutes, and Stoke-on-Trent around 30 minutes. The area is popular with GPs looking to combine strong professional opportunity with an excellent quality of life.

The Practice

  • GP Training Practice, with an active programme and ambitions to significantly expand training capacity across both sites
  • High-achieving QOF performance at both sites
  • Forward-thinking leadership team with genuine entrepreneurial energy — exploring pharmacy, APMS contracts, and new build development, with a dedicated non-clinical Partner whose role focuses on growth and opportunity
  • Private mental health provision already in place alongside core NHS services
  • Strong multidisciplinary team including an ACP, three ANPs, three Practice Nurses, a nurse associate, HCA, PCN Pharmacist, pharmacy technician, MH practitioner, and physiotherapist — around 50 staff across both sites
  • AI-assisted document scanning and auto-filing in place, with a virtual pharmacy service handling medicines requests and reducing GP task burden
  • PCN-provided home visiting service, keeping GP workload focused on in-surgery care
  • Mid-sized practice serving a mixed town and rural population, with a dispensing function at both sites

Your Role

  • Salaried GP position with a confirmed Partnership pathway from six months, subject to holding GP Trainer status or being actively working towards it
  • 6 to 8 sessions per week — flexible on days, with one of Monday or Friday included
  • Total triage model at both sites: duty doctor takes the urgent on-day workload, with care navigators and a well-developed triage workflow in place
  • Appointments run at 15 minutes with 12 patients per session
  • Active involvement in GP registrar supervision and training development — the practice has four clinical supervisors and is building towards up to six registrars concurrently
  • Opportunity to take on lead roles in policy or training as the practice grows — the team want someone with clinical gravitas who enjoys peer supervision as much as clinical work
  • Cover across both sites, with the main clinical base at the principal surgery; registrars are also placed at the second site
  • Extended hours available on a voluntary basis — no obligation, separately organised and staffed
  • 5+ years post-CCT preferred; the practice will consider 3 to 4 years for candidates who have been working full time and can demonstrate the confidence and clinical credibility to work independently within a triage model
  • You must be qualified as a General Practitioner and registered with the GMC and UK Performers List

Salary And Benefits

  • Sessional rate of £13,000 per session during the salaried period
  • Partnership pathway from six months — projected drawings of £150,000 at 8 sessions, based on recent years’ performance
  • 100% parity from day one of Partnership
  • No building buy-in required; minimal stock buy-in only
  • NHS Pension
  • Indemnity contribution of £500
  • Professional fees covered
  • 6 weeks’ annual leave plus 2 NHS days
  • 1 week study leave
  • BMA-compliant contract, consistent with the existing salaried GP team, including DDRB uplifts
