Background
This is not a standard salaried post. The practice is looking for a named Care Home Lead: a GP who will take genuine clinical ownership of a local care home, drive quality improvement, and bring authoritative leadership to a relationship that has real scope for development. Structured around six sessions with dedicated protected time built in from day one, this is a role designed to be sustainable, clinically rich and genuinely rewarding for the right person.

Location
The practice is based in Roehampton, South West London (SW15), on the western edge of Wandsworth. It sits within easy reach of Putney (approximately 10 minutes), Kingston upon Thames (approximately 15 minutes) and Richmond (approximately 15 minutes). Central London is accessible in around 30 minutes by road or public transport.

The Practice
GP Training Practice, with a structured and genuinely supportive approach to registrar supervision.
Small practice with a deliberately higher-than-average GP-to-patient ratio, reflecting the complexity and deprivation of the population it serves.
Total triage model in place: at least 40% of all incoming requests are resolved without ever reaching a GP, keeping clinical workload focused and manageable.
A strong partnership team, all long-tenured and actively engaged in the wider primary care landscape, with external leadership roles across the local federation and PCN.
A salaried GP team with strong retention: several members have been in post for three or more years.
Purpose-built premises with air‑conditioned consulting rooms and free on‑site car parking, both genuine perks for a London practice.
Supported by a multi-disciplinary PCN team including a first contact physiotherapist, social prescriber, in‑house pharmacist, mental health support worker, and drug and alcohol counsellor.
EMIS Web clinical system with Docman workflow and full electronic prescribing.
Rated Good by the CQC.

Your Role
6 sessions per week, with preferred working days of Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Named Care Home Lead for a well‑run local care home (58 beds, including a specialist dementia floor), with two ward rounds per week capped at 14–15 patients across both visits.
Protected QI and admin time built into the session structure, at least once per three‑week cycle, specifically for care home development, audit and service improvement.
Duty and triage sessions included in the rota: Mayfield’s duty model is widely regarded by the team as one of the most valued sessions of the week, with meaningful embedded admin time.
No extended hours obligation: the role sits entirely within core hours, with optional additional sessions available at a premium rate for those who want them.
Structured induction with a GP mentor and direct Partnership support; the Practice Manager will personally accompany the incoming GP on early care home visits to formally establish the new lead arrangement.
Appointment model offering flexibility: 10 or 15‑minute slots, with morning clinics starting from 8:30 or 9:30 and most afternoon sessions finishing by 5:00pm.
Very limited home visits: typically one to two per week at most, handled primarily through the duty rota.

Salary And Benefits
Sessional rate of £11,300–£11,700 per session (range reflects experience, with all salaried GPs moving together).
NHS Pension Indemnity paid.
Professional fees covered.
6 weeks annual leave plus bank holidays, pro rata.
5 days study leave, pro rata.
You must be qualified as a General Practitioner and registered with the GMC and UK performers list.
