Background
This is a genuinely new post, not a backfill. It has been created through the GP reimbursement scheme to add real extra capacity to an established team, with a workload built around a strict daily contact cap rather than open-ended demand.
Location
The role is based in Ipswich, the largest town in Suffolk and a well-connected base for GPs across the East of England. Colchester is around 25 minutes away by car, Felixstowe around 25 minutes, and Bury St Edmunds around 40 minutes, making this a realistic option for candidates commuting from across Suffolk and North Essex.
The Practice
Backed by shared clinical infrastructure across a wider partnership of practices, including cross-practice pharmacy team collaboration on audits and medication reviews.
A broad multidisciplinary team including nurse practitioners, pharmacists, healthcare assistants and paramedics, offering a genuinely varied skill mix.
Strong staff retention, particularly among clinicians, credited in large part to a Partner known across the team for listening to concerns and acting on them.
A large practice with a strong partnership team and a large salaried GP team.
Rated Good by the CQC, with an Outstanding rating for Well-led leadership.
Your Role
6 sessions per week, each split into two five-hour sessions.
A genuine daily cap of 30 patient contacts, a real ceiling rather than a soft target.
Very low home-visiting responsibility.
A realistic partnership pathway after around 12 months for a candidate who wants to grow into the role.
Visa sponsorship available for the right candidate.
Salary And Benefits
£11,000 per session.
Professional fees and indemnity covered.
NHS Pension Scheme, including life insurance and family benefits.
Enhanced CPD and study leave allowance, scaled to sessions worked.
Six weeks’ annual leave plus bank holidays.
Enhanced maternity and paternity terms.
Electric Car Salary Sacrifice Scheme.
You must be qualified as a General Practitioner and registered with the GMC and UK performers list.
