Are you good on the phone? Do you want the chance to call and speak to our fantastic supporters? Then our One Big Walk Volunteer Caller role could be for you!

One Big Walk is Mencap's flagship fundraising campaign where we ask members of the public to organise their own walk. This year is even bigger than ever and is held during Learning Disability Week (15th-21st June).

We are looking for volunteers who can call our volunteers, check in on how their walks are going, and wish them good luck. Calls are scheduled from March through June. If you would like experience working within an office environment and in the charity sector, and enjoy talking to the public, we want to hear from you!

About the team you will be joining: The Community Fundraising Team supports individuals, groups, corporates and schools who organise a fundraiser and raise money in aid of Mencap. Our biggest fundraiser is One Big Walk and takes place during Learning Disability Week; all the money raised supports our vision for people with a learning disability to live their lives to the full.

Availability: This role is based from our London office, and we would like you to come in two days a week – ideally Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Benefits and Activities: Activities you could get up to whilst volunteering include:

  • Calling supporters who have signed up and thanking them for taking part, checking they have everything they need for their walk
  • Giving check-in calls to monitor progress
  • Giving good luck calls one week before their walk
  • Giving follow-up calls one week after their walk
  • Sending WhatsApp messages to supporters who sign up
  • Recording all calls made on a spreadsheet
  • Supporting with other ad hoc administrative tasks as required

We can provide a phone and laptop in the office to support you to do this role.
