An exciting opportunity for a passionate and self-motivated Employer Engagement Officer to join our Supported Internship programme team in Islington on a Full Time basis. As an Employer Engagement Officer, your role is central to the delivery of our Mencap Training Academy. You will be responsible for finding suitable and high quality work experience and paid opportunities for learners with SEN on a Supported Internship Programme.
What you will do as an Employer Engagement Officer:
- Ensure high quality support is given to each learner.
- Keep track of each work placement information and track of progress towards paid opportunities.
- Act as an ambassador for Mencap and deliver learning disability awareness sessions to employers.
- Liaise with the Senior Skills Coach to plan Skills Coach in work support hours to meet agreed targets to receive Access to Work funding.
- Support and ensure the team build and maintain good relationships with parents, carers, learner support networks and employers.
- Ensure accurate and up to date record keeping and reporting.
- Conduct quality assurance activity to drive constant improvement.
- Work closely with the wider team to ensure the needs of the learner are being met.
Do you have the key skills and requirements to be an Employer Engagement Officer? (essential):
- An understanding of employment and education programmes.
- An ability to plan and manage your own workload.
- An ability to build professional relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
- In depth knowledge and experience of engaging with employers.
- A track record of securing paid work outcomes and delivering against targets.
- Strong communication, record keeping and organisational skills.
- Experience of supported employment.
- Experience of working with people with a learning disability.
- An excellent team player with strong problem-solving skills.
- Good ICT skills.
- An ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- A positive attitude and enthusiasm to support young people with SEND.
