We are currently recruiting for a Credit Controller to join our busy team based in Peterborough. As Credit Controller, you will take ownership of specific debtor categories and accounts, managing all related debt collection activity. You’ll work closely with colleagues across Mencap, playing a key role in supporting the people we serve.
This is a full-time permanent position, working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Standard working hours are 9am to 5pm, though we are happy to offer flexibility where needed. While this is an office-based role in Peterborough, we understand that work is something you do, not just a place you go. That’s why we offer our office-based colleagues greater flexibility in how and where work is carried out. There is a requirement for the successful candidate to work from the office approx 2 days per week.
We’re looking for someone with previous experience in a similar role, who can manage multiple priorities quickly and accurately. You’ll be confident using IT systems and have excellent communication skills.

- Proactively contacting debtors and arranging for payment of outstanding amounts
- Creating and sending regular debtor statements
- Creating and sending regular debtor invoices & statements
- Prioritising your work in a manner that allows you to maximise the collection of debt
- Building working relationships with key funders to aid debt collection
