We are looking for a full-time Registered Service Manager to lead our service in Thetford, supporting people with a learning disability to live the life they choose. This is a hands-on leadership role with the opportunity to make a genuine difference every day. In this role, you will lead a dedicated team to deliver high-quality, person-centred support while creating an environment where both colleagues and the people we support can thrive.

The role involves overseeing the day-to-day running of the service, providing clear leadership, developing staff teams, managing budgets, and building strong relationships with families, commissioners, and partner agencies. A key part of the position is maintaining high standards, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring ongoing compliance with CQC requirements.

We are looking for an experienced leader with a strong background in health and social care, ideally with experience supporting people with a learning disability. Excellent people management skills, a practical and values-led approach to leadership, and a good understanding of what great support looks like in practice are essential. You must also have or be willing to work towards a Level 5 qualification in Leadership and Management for Adult Care (or equivalent).

In return, Mencap offers the chance to join one of the UK’s leading charities, alongside ongoing development opportunities, a supportive management team, and a workplace that genuinely values the impact of its staff. The working pattern is flexible across 7 days and, due to the needs of the people we support, a full UK driving licence is essential.

If you are ready for a role where your leadership can have a lasting impact, we would love to hear from you. This role will close on the 31st May at midnight.

Here at Mencap, we offer a range of benefits designed to support and reward our employees to ensure that our teams feel valued and appreciated. Our benefits package offers 24 days of paid holiday (excluding bank holidays, pro rata), along with a range of perks such as discounts at leading high-street retailers, access to health cash plans, interest-free loans, and more.

Our vision is for the UK to be the best place in the world for people with a learning disability to live happy and healthy lives. We're here to support people with a learning disability, their families and their carers. We fight for a kinder, fairer and more inclusive society for people with a learning disability to live in.

At Mencap, everyone works with people with a learning disability either providing support or advice, or alongside one another as colleagues. Belonging at Mencap is for everyone, every day, everywhere. Everyone is expected to treat people well and make Mencap an inclusive organisation. Every day we grow and learn. Everywhere people will feel respected, valued, and safe to be themselves.

We have Belonging network groups that meet online and are open to all colleagues. The groups include people who identify as Black and Asian, LGBTQIA+, disabled or with a long-term health condition, women, parents and carers, and their allies. We want to encourage everyone to apply to work at Mencap and we offer a variety of different contract types and working patterns. We’re not looking for specific experience. It is your personality and values that will make you a great colleague. We will train and develop you to succeed in the role you’re applying for.
