Support Worker in Lowestoft

Overview

Calling all compassionate and dedicated individuals! Mencap is seeking passionate Support Workers to join our team in Lowestoft. We have two permanent part-time positions available (20 hours). As a Support Worker, you\\\’ll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with learning disabilities.

You will be working with a diverse group of people, each with their own unique abilities and needs. This role may involve assisting with activities such as trampolining and swimming, and providing emotional support. A driver is preferred but not essential. You may be supporting up to 4 people with PMLD/complex needs. Sleep-ins and wake nights may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily activities and leisure activities (e.g., trampolining, swimming) for individuals with learning disabilities.
• Provide emotional and practical support to people with complex needs.
• Support up to 4 individuals with PMLD/complex needs.
• Occasionally work sleep-ins or wake nights as required.
• Support the preparation of rotas and assist with 24-hour care scheduling as needed.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• A positive and empathetic attitude towards individuals with learning disabilities.

Contract and shifts

• Part-time: 20 hours
• Part-time: flexible hours based on availability
• Shift times: All services are 24-hour care. Rotas prepared at least 4 weeks in advance to help you plan your personal and social life.
• Days: 07:00–22:00
• Waking nights: 22:00–07:00
• Sleep-in allowance: enhanced flat rate payment of £63.70

Additional details

• All roles are subject to an enhanced DBS check and suitable references.
• TCs apply based on contract.
