Job Overview
A full‑time (37.5 hours per week) Skills Coach position on the Supported Internship programme team, based in Barnet and working in the community classroom.
The role is central to the delivery of Mencap Training Academy, supporting learners with SEN to complete all programme elements by providing tailored support to individuals with mild to moderate learning disabilities and difficulties.
Responsibilities
- Be accountable for learner progression, ensuring young adults achieve the skills needed to progress onto paid employment.
- Deliver support in various ways, including 1‑1 job coaching and classroom sessions to develop employability skills and embed English and Maths learning in the workplace.
- Support people to learn the skills required to secure sustained paid employment.
- Assist learners with SEN in completing all elements of the programme in line with requirements.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Experience of supporting people, particularly those with learning disabilities.
- Experience of delivering against targets.
- Knowledge of safe working practices.
- Knowledge of the sector.
- English and Maths GCSE A‑C/9–4 (or equivalent).
- Good ICT skills.
- Effective communication skills.
- Effective record‑keeping and reporting.
All candidates offered an interview for this role will need to provide evidence of their GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent) at interview stage.
