An exciting opportunity for passionate and self-motivated Skills Coaches to join our Supported Internship programme team in Kingston-upon-Thames on a full-time basis (37.5 hours per week). As a Skills Coach, your role is central to the delivery of our Mencap Training Academy. You will support learners with SEN to complete all elements of the programme in line with requirements by providing tailored support. The role will be based in the community classroom of our supported internship programme supporting learners with mild to moderate learning disabilities and difficulties.
What you will do as a Skills Coach?
- Be accountable for learner progression and ensuring the young adults achieve the skills they need to make progress onto paid employment.
- You will deliver support in various ways; 1-1 job coaching, working with learners in the classroom to develop employability skills and embed English and Maths learning in the workplace.
- You will support people to learn the skills they need to go on and achieve sustained paid employment.
Do you have the key skills and requirements to be a Skills Coach? (essential):
- Experience of supporting people
- Experience of delivering against targets
- Knowledge of safe working practices
- Knowledge of sector
- A-C/9-4 English & Maths GCSE (or equivalent)
- Good ICT skills
- Effective Communicator
- Effective record keeping and reporting
