Calling all compassionate and dedicated individuals! Mencap is seeking passionate Support Workers based in a 2:1 supported living service in Chopwell, West Gateshead. We are going through the process of moving to a new home in Sunniside and this should be completed over the summer.
Due to the needs of the service, having a full driver's licence is essential to the role and for the person to have passed their test longer than one year ago. We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Support Worker to assist an active young gentleman with a range of daily activities and meaningful engagement. He enjoys watching YouTube, exploring Google Maps, and getting creative by making crispy cakes. He is non-verbal and communicates through sounds or by writing on paper, and he benefits from support from someone who is patient, attentive, and able to understand and respond to his individual communication style. He has a real love for water and enjoys jumping in puddles when it has been raining. Trips to the park are a highlight for him, especially spending time on the swings.
If you are someone who can bring energy, understanding, and a person-centred approach, you'll be a great fit for supporting him to enjoy his favourite activities and maintain his independence.
What we're looking for:

Contract options:
- Part-time: 25 to 35 hours available
- Shift times: All our services are 24hr care. We prepare the rotas at least 4 weeks in advance so you can still plan your personal and social life!
- Day shift: 09:00 - 19:00
- Day shift and sleep in: 09:00 - 23:00 (then sleep in) 07:00 - 09:15
- There is also a sleep-in available where you will receive an enhanced flat rate payment of £64.20
