Calling all compassionate and dedicated individuals! Mencap is seeking passionate FEMALE SUPPORT WORKERS to join our incredible team in Belper. As a Support Worker, you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with learning disabilities. You will be working with a diverse group of people, each with their own unique abilities and needs.

From assisting with daily activities to providing emotional support, you'll play a vital role in their life. Our supported living service is home to individuals who require support with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, mental health needs, and communication difficulties. We need Support Workers to provide the physical and emotional support that our people we support need every day. This includes assistance with personal care, medication, finances, activities and everything else to help them achieve their goals and aspirations.

Qualities and Skills Required:

  • Relationship Building: Essential for gaining the trust of the people we support, establishing open communication, and building lasting relationships.
  • Patience and Understanding: Important for navigating challenging situations effectively.
  • Conflict-Resolution Techniques: Necessary for managing and resolving conflicts in a constructive manner.
  • Ideally will hold a Level 2 qualification or above in Health and Social Care or be willing to work towards one.

What we're looking for:

  • A genuine passion for supporting others.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • A positive and empathetic attitude towards individuals with learning disabilities.
  • People who enjoy interactivity with the people we support. Some activities include: Sightseeing, day trips etc.
  • Driving licence preferred but not essential.

Contract options: 30 hours per week

Shift times: Days: Shifts Between 07:00-23:00. Sleep ins required and paid at a flat rate of £64.20 per sleep. Must be flexible to cover weekends on a rota basis.

*All roles are subject to an enhanced DBS check and suitable references.
