Professional Relations Manager, Pharmaceutical (12-month contract)
About the Role
An exciting opportunity to join Menarini as the Professional Relations Manager (PRM) in the pre-launch phase of a first-in-class cardiovascular therapy.
Reporting to the Marketing Director, the PRM leads the UK Key External Expert (KEE) and advocacy strategy. The role drives customer experience excellence, aligns cross-functional teams, and breaks down operational silos. Accountable for national meetings and congress support, the PRM ensures all stakeholder engagements strictly comply with the ABPI Code of Practice, UK GDPR, and internal standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Business Partnering & KEE Alignment
- Serve as the primary strategic advisor and single point of accountability within Marketing to execute a unified KEE and advocacy strategy across the UK market.
- Consolidate and centralise stakeholder lists across cross-functional teams (XFT) into a single, governed master system.
- Remove operational barriers between field-and office-based commercial teams to prevent uncoordinated outreach, duplicated touchpoints, and customer fatigue.
- Constructively challenge brand and commercial teams on external engagement tactics, advising on the optimal engagement mix and budget allocation.
Customer Experience & Congress Strategy
- Implement a structured point-of-contact process and tiering framework for every KEE, validating working preferences across cross-functional teams.
- Lead the strategic planning and execution of all UK national symposia meetings, working closely with external agencies and XFT partners to support congress activities.
- Establish rigorous cross-functional validation criteria to ensure sponsored KEE alignment with strategic activity goals.
Governance, Compliance & Risk Management
- Deliver administrative processes to high standards, completing compliant approval workflows for KEE activities aligned strictly to the UK ABPI Code of Practice and internal SOPs.
- Act as the local data privacy owner for external stakeholder data standards, ensuring full compliance with UK GDPR for patient and HCP data collection, storage, and usage.
Capability Building & Cross-Functional Governance
- Interface seamlessly across UK Sales, Medical Affairs (MSLs), Market Access (RAMs), and Marketing, while aligning closely with global marketing counterparts.
- Provide regular reporting visibility on stakeholder interactions, advocacy progress, and engagement milestones directly to the General Manager and Executive Leadership Team.
- Raise organizational awareness and capability around customer feedback mechanisms to continuously elevate customer experience.
Event Analytics & Performance Metrics
- Build and maintain a robust post-event tracking system to monitor clinical, strategic, and commercial return on investment (ROI) pre- and post-launch.
- Feed stakeholder insights, field intelligence, and customer feedback directly into annual brand planning, pre-launch tactics, and marketing resource allocation.
- Therapy Expertise: Deep understanding of cardiovascular management within the NHS, establishing immediate clinical and scientific credibility.
- Customer Experience & Advocacy Focus: Proven ability to build trusted, long-term partnerships with top-tier UK cardiologists, diabetologists, and NHS Primary Care Network (PCN) leaders.
- ABPI Code of Practice & Compliance: Expert-level knowledge of the UK ABPI Code of Practice governing HCP engagements and sponsorships, combined with UK GDPR expertise.
- Matrix Leadership: Exceptional ability to lead without authority, navigating matrix environments across Sales, Medical Affairs, Market Access, and Marketing.
- Insights, Analytics & Commercial Acumen: Aptitude for deploying feedback systems, measuring tangible commercial ROI, managing event budgets effectively, and adapting tactics based on field intelligence.
Essential Qualifications:
- Education & Therapeutic Specialisation: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Life Sciences, or a related commercial discipline, with therapeutic specialisation in cardiovascular & diabetes management for immediate scientific credibility.
- Industry Track Record: Proven track record as a National Professional Relations Manager (PRM) or Senior Customer Engagement Strategist across major UK pharmaceutical companies.
- Compliance & NHS Landscape: Deep understanding of the UK ABPI Code of Practice (governing HCP engagements and sponsorships) and UK GDPR, paired with a solid grasp of the NHS structure (ICSs, PCNs, Trust formularies).
- Leadership & Strategy: Demonstrated ability to lead without authority, influencing the Senior Leadership Team and cross-functional partners across Marketing, Medical, and Field Operations.
- Systems & Strategic Communication: Hands-on experience with CRM systems (e.g., Veeva/Salesforce) and post-event ROI measurement tools, combined with excellent communication and presentation skills to translate external insights into clear executive strategies.
