We are seeking an experienced Marketing Research Specialist to join the Business Development and Marketing team of a leading international law firm in London.

This role focuses on delivering high-quality company, industry, and market intelligence to support business development initiatives across the firm. The successful candidate will conduct secondary research, analyse information from multiple sources and produce polished, concise and commercially focused reports to help internal stakeholders identify opportunities and make informed business decisions.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and writing skills, excellent attention to detail, and experience using business intelligence databases and AI-powered research tools within a fast-paced professional environment.

Responsibilities

- Conduct comprehensive company, industry, and market research to support business development and strategic initiatives.
- Prepare detailed company profiles, executive biographies, industry reports and market intelligence briefings.
- Monitor M&A transactions, market developments, industry trends and potential business opportunities.
- Gather, evaluate and synthesise information using platforms such as Lexis, Capital IQ, Mergermarket, AlphaSense and other business intelligence sources.
- Produce accurate, concise and professionally written research reports tailored to the needs of internal stakeholders.
- Provide current-awareness reporting and identify relevant commercial developments and emerging opportunities.
- Utilise AI-powered research tools, including Copilot and Harvey, to enhance research efficiency while maintaining independent judgment and quality control.
- Analyse complex information and translate findings into clear, actionable business intelligence.
- Collaborate with Business Development and Marketing teams to deliver timely and high-quality research support.
- Maintain exceptional standards of accuracy, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and consistency across all written deliverables.

Requirements:

- Minimum 3 years' relevant experience in market research, business intelligence, competitive intelligence or business development research.
- Previous experience within an international law firm, consulting firm, professional services organisation, private equity, venture capital or similar research-focused environment preferred.
- Candidates from law firm library or information services backgrounds with strong business research and database expertise will also be considered.
- Strong secondary research capabilities, particularly in company profiling, industry analysis, M&A tracking and market intelligence.
- Excellent written English, with exceptional attention to grammar, spelling, punctuation and overall presentation.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse information from multiple sources and produce concise, commercially relevant written reports.
- Experience using research databases such as Lexis, Capital IQ, Mergermarket or AlphaSense is highly advantageous.
- Comfortable working with AI technologies and applying independent analytical judgment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Advanced Excel skills, including data manipulation, reporting, dashboards and automation, would be a significant advantage.
- Strong communication skills, commercial awareness and the confidence to present research findings to internal stakeholders.
- Highly organised, collaborative and able to manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be London-based or willing to relocate and able to attend the office Tuesday to Thursday each week, with no flexibility on these days.
