Men Who Talk is recruiting up to three new Trustees to join our board over the next year as we enter an exciting period of growth. We’re seeking individuals who can lead on Fundraising & Individual Giving.

This is a chance to play a meaningful role in a bold, ambitious charity tackling the men’s mental health crisis through free peer support groups. We welcome applications from diverse backgrounds, including first-time trustees.

What are we looking for?

  • Fundraising & Individual Giving (IG) Lead
  • Strategic Growth: Experience in developing or overseeing diverse income strategies, with a focus on moving beyond grant dependency toward sustainable individual giving or community-led models.
  • Performance Oversight: Ability to set and monitor KPIs for fundraising activities, providing the board with clear insights into ROI and donor retention.
  • Agency & Freelance Management: Experience in briefing and managing external consultants or freelance fundraisers to ensure campaign execution aligns with the charity’s mission and brand.

We’re looking for people who bring strong communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and genuine passion for men’s mental health. Previous trustee experience is welcome but not essential — we value strategic thinking, relevant professional expertise, and a willingness to get involved. We particularly welcome applications from diverse communities, and the role is open to all, including female-identifying individuals.

What will you be doing?

We’re looking for 2–3 proactive, strategic individuals to join our board of trustees. While all trustees share collective responsibility for governance, strategy, and financial oversight, we’re particularly seeking people who can take a lead on Fundraising & Individual Giving: Providing strategic oversight of our income streams and helping develop new community and IG plans. You will work alongside freelance experts who handle the execution.

The board meets quarterly, alternating between online and in-person meetings in Central London, with a time commitment of up to 8 hours per month. Additional sub-committees may be established as we grow. The minimum term is three years.

Benefits and commitments

  • Annual training and development budget
  • Chance to represent the charity at events across the UK
  • All out-of-pocket expenses covered with prior approval
