Position-Specific Performance Expectations, Duties, and Responsibilities:
- Records patient’s current status, past medical history, vaccine status, vital statistics, and medication reconciliation in preparation for provider visit in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Respects the confidentiality of patient records and uses complete discretion when discussing patient information in accordance with HIPAA.
- Utilizes all department forms and documents in EMRs appropriately.
- Collects, labels, and transports all specimens appropriately.
- Demonstrates proper techniques when preparing for procedures.
- Demonstrates knowledge of emergencies and routine equipment and procedures.
- Collaborates with patient care planning, including actively participating in education specific to patient diagnosis and needs.
- Assists providers with special tests and procedures.
- Demonstrates an ability to start IVs and monitor IV fluids for the correct rate.
- Ability to assess every patient for safety, medication dosage appropriateness, and other needs.
- Accurately administers medication, performs treatment in accordance with standards of care.
- Translates medications into pediatric doses and uses proper equipment for the patient’s size and age.
- Ability to identify victims and the process for reporting abuse.
- Maintains compliance within the department and clinic, as well as within state and federal regulations and policies.
- Utilizes proper phone etiquette to record all phone interactions with patients in the EMR.
- Properly cares for instruments i.e., cleaning, packaging, and sterilizing as appropriate.
- Participates in mandatory in‑services and attends staff meetings.
- Follows MRH policy and procedures.
- Demonstrates knowledge of emergency preparedness and participates in drills.
- Acts as a resource person to other staff members.
- Acts as a positive and supportive team member to staff members and other departments within the organization.
- Participates in process improvement teams or in interdepartmental efforts.
- Acts as a liaison between patients, families, providers, and staff.
- Completes workload as assigned.
- Floats to other clinical departments as assigned.

Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age (21 for positions requiring driving, with a valid driver’s license).
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Must successfully pass a background check.
- Must successfully pass a pre‑employment drug screen and breath alcohol test (if applicable).
- Must complete an Employee Health meeting prior to starting employment.
Education, Licensure(s), and Certification(s) Required:
- Current and active Colorado Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact license.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or be obtained within ninety (90) days of hire).
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration or related field.
Preferred:
- One (1) year of clinic experience.
