Science, Innovation and Deep Tech Communications

Memetic Communications is a specialist communications agency focused on science and deep tech. We work at the point where complex research, emerging technology and real-world impact meet. Our clients span advanced engineering, AI, robotics, quantum, biotech, clean energy and public-sector innovation.

This is a particularly exciting time at Memetic. After five years of continuous growth, we have begun a bigger expansion phase, adding some amazing people to our team and developing a broader service offering that extends the ways we can help clients build understanding and trust with their audiences. We are now looking for a senior hire to join the agency management team and help drive Memetic\’s growth during this transformational period. This is a leadership role for someone motivated by building a category-defining agency, not just servicing accounts.

This is a remote working position with monthly in person meetings in London. Three or four day weeks will be considered on a pro rata salary.

The role

You will be a member of the Memetic management team, with shared responsibility for growing the business and shaping its future direction. Alongside leading major client relationships, you will help position Memetic as the leading communications agency for science, innovation and deep tech.

This is a hands-on leadership role. We are a small, agile business and directors are involved at all levels. You will be closely involved in client management and programme delivery, while contributing at a strategic and commercial level.

Key responsibilities include

• Acting as part of the agency management team, helping to shape direction and priorities for growth
• Leading and growing senior client relationships in science, innovation and deep tech
• Designing and delivering integrated PR and communications programmes for complex and technical topics
• Translating scientific and engineering detail into clear, credible and compelling narratives through messaging projects and written content
• Connecting media, content, thought leadership and LinkedIn activity into coherent strategic programmes
• Playing a central role in new business development, including origination, pitching and conversion
• Using your network to generate high-quality leads aligned to Memetic\’s focus and ambition
• Maintaining exceptional standards in client service, delivery and outcomes across accounts

About you

You are a highly experienced communications professional with a strong agency background in science, innovation or deep tech. You enjoy operating at both leadership and delivery level, and you are excited by the challenge of helping to build a market-leading specialist agency.

You will bring:

• Significant experience in strategic communications, PR or corporate communications within complex technical sectors
• A proven track record of winning and growing agency business in science, innovation or deep tech
• Outstanding client management skills and confidence working with senior stakeholders, researchers and technical experts
• Demonstrable experience delivering communications programmes for complex, high-consequence topics
• Strong strategic judgement, with the ability to connect tactical activity into long-term, trust-building programmes
• Commercial awareness and a genuine interest in agency growth and positioning
• A practical, hands-on approach and willingness to stay close to delivery

Package

• Full-time equivalent salary of £75,000 to £85,000, depending on experience
