Our client, the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG), is seeking an experienced Head of Quality, Standards & Assessment Development to play a key role in maintaining and developing the quality, integrity and future direction of its high-stakes examinations.

The RCOG’s Examinations Department delivers examinations to around 10,000 candidates each year across more than 40 UK and international centres. The MRCOG is an internationally recognised qualification and a compulsory milestone within UK O&G specialty training.

This is a role with genuine scope to influence. Alongside providing operational leadership across the examinations function, you will lead on quality assurance, standards and assessment development, ensuring examinations remain robust, consistent and aligned with best practice and GMC requirements.

A key focus will be supporting a major programme of examination review and development, using data, insight and operational experience to identify opportunities for improvement while maintaining the standards and integrity of the assessments. You will also work closely with senior clinicians, examination committees and colleagues across the College to take development initiatives from discussion through to implementation.

The role combines strategic development with hands-on operational leadership. You will lead a small team, work closely with the Examinations Manager, oversee quality assurance and results processes, and contribute to the smooth delivery of examinations in the UK and internationally.

We are particularly interested in individuals with substantial experience of high-stakes assessments or examinations, ideally including examination development, review, quality assurance or change programmes. Healthcare or medical assessment experience would be advantageous but is not essential.

The role is hybrid, with an average of four days per month in the London office, plus additional attendance during key periods. After the first 12 months, international travel (twice per year) will form part of the role.

This is an opportunity to join an established, close-knit team and play a significant part in shaping how the RCOG delivers and develops its examinations for the future.
