Governance Manager for an established UK membership organisation operating within a regulated professional environment.
This is a high-profile role working closely with the organisation’s senior leadership and governing bodies.
You will take ownership of governance processes, help ensure robust and effective decision-making, and strengthen the systems, reporting and stakeholder relationships that support the organisation’s strategic direction.
The role
You will be responsible for
- Leading and continually improving governance processes, ensuring they meet legal, regulatory and best-practice standards.
- Supporting the effective operation of the Board, Council and key committees.
- Coordinating governance cycles, including appointments, elections and annual member meetings.
- Developing and monitoring organisational KPIs and strategic reporting frameworks.
- Supporting business and strategic planning, including progress monitoring and reporting.
- Building strong relationships with trustees, committee members, senior stakeholders and colleagues across the organisation.
- Developing a consistent organisation-wide approach to stakeholder engagement.
- Overseeing the preparation and quality of governance papers, agendas and supporting documentation.
- Managing governance-related budgets and resources.
- Line managing and developing an Executive Assistant.
About you
We are looking for someone with strong governance experience gained within a membership body, professional association, charity or similar organisation.
You will ideally bring
- Experience supporting Boards, Councils, trustees or committees at a senior level.
- Practical knowledge of governance and relevant charity/regulatory requirements.
- Experience managing elections, appointments or comparable governance processes.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- Experience developing KPIs, reporting frameworks, processes or procedures.
- Excellent organisation, written communication and attention to detail.
- Confidence working with senior leaders and handling sensitive or confidential information.
