Job Description Governance Manager \n Salary: £41,000–£44,000 \n Location: Central London | Hybrid working \n Contract: Permanent | 35 hours per week \n \n We are recruiting a Governance Manager for an established UK membership organisation operating within a regulated professional environment. \n \n This is a high-profile role working closely with the organisation’s senior leadership and governing bodies. You will take ownership of governance processes, help ensure robust and effective decision-making, and strengthen the systems, reporting and stakeholder relationships that support the organisation’s strategic direction. \n \n The role \n You will be responsible for: \n \n Leading and continually improving governance processes, ensuring they meet legal, regulatory and best-practice standards. \n Supporting the effective operation of the Board, Council and key committees. \n Coordinating governance cycles, including appointments, elections and annual member meetings. \n Developing and monitoring organisational KPIs and strategic reporting frameworks. \n Supporting business and strategic planning, including progress monitoring and reporting. \n Building strong relationships with trustees, committee members, senior stakeholders and colleagues across the organisation. \n Developing a consistent organisation-wide approach to stakeholder engagement. \n Overseeing the preparation and quality of governance papers, agendas and supporting documentation. \n Managing governance-related budgets and resources. \n Line managing and developing an Executive Assistant. \n \n \n About you \n We are looking for someone with strong governance experience gained within a membership body, professional association, charity or similar organisation. \n You will ideally bring: \n \n Experience supporting Boards, Councils, trustees or committees at a senior level. \n Practical knowledge of governance and relevant charity/regulatory requirements. \n Experience managing elections, appointments or comparable governance processes. \n Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills. \n Experience developing KPIs, reporting frameworks, processes or procedures. \n Excellent organisation, written communication and attention to detail. \n Confidence working with senior leaders and handling sensitive or confidential information. \n \n \n This would suit an experienced governance professional who enjoys combining hands-on governance delivery with strategic thinking, stakeholder engagement and organisational improvement .
