We’re delighted to be partnering with a leading professional body and charity at the forefront of advancing science, learning and innovation. Our client is seeking a Senior Governance Officer to join on a six-month contract, supporting the continued delivery of robust governance, risk, and compliance frameworks across a complex organisation.
This is an exciting opportunity for a governance professional who enjoys variety, cross-organisational collaboration and high-impact work. You’ll work within the Governance & Compliance team and play a key role in ensuring the effective operation of governance structures, supporting committees and boards and driving excellence in governance practice.
Key responsibilities:- Leading governance processes for strategic and operational boards, including agenda planning, minuting and action tracking.
- Supporting the delivery across various Committee meetings.
- Contributing to the risk management and internal audit programmes across the group.
- Developing, reviewing, and maintaining governance documentation including policies, terms of reference and schemes of delegation.
- Providing guidance to trustees and committee members and supporting key governance events such as the AGM and elections.
- Collaborating across departments to ensure effective compliance and risk management practices.
You’ll bring significant experience in a governance or compliance role—ideally within a charity, membership body or not-for-profit organisation. You’ll have a strong understanding of good governance, exceptional organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. You’ll be confident drafting minutes and reports, communicating with senior stakeholders, and applying sound judgement in a professional, diplomatic manner.
