Head of Professional Development Professional Body Flexible working – Remote, hybrid or office based (Including staff meetings 4x a year in London) Basic Salary £50K depending on experience, plus excellent benefits including 25 days per year annual leave (rising to 30 with service and closing over Christmas and New Year) Pension scheme – employers’ contribution of up to 7.5%. Permanent, Full Time – 35 hours My client is a leading professional body who seeks an experienced Head of Professional Development to join their team. The Role The post holder will sit on their Leadership Team and lead their learning and development team, overseeing all their short courses, qualifications and wider learning opportunities. A key part of this role will be to conduct an initial six-month review of their current learning and development offer, developing a series of recommendations to help them move towards individual chartered status for their client base. Key Responsibility Areas: Undertake a comprehensive review of their current offer and potential for development, making clear and costed recommendations as part of a learning and development strategy. Review scope for developing in-house training offering to members and the sector. Review, grow and develop qualifications, ensuring relevant quality assurance process. Identify new opportunities and delivery methods for training to engage members. Ensure we can meet the CPD requirements for our members as part of the move to individual chartering. Person Specification Strong subject knowledge within the learning and development sector, ideally with membership body experience. Keen understanding of the charity sector. Research and innovation – researching and understanding new topics and delivery methods for training programmes. Creative approach to curriculum design and delivery. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate, connect and influence colleagues and stakeholders. A commitment to continuous improvement in developing their learning and development offering – having an ear to the ground to identify new commercial opportunities. Experience of working in partnership and at pace within the charity sector to translate topical issues into high impact learning solutions. Demonstrable expertise in learning and development, having been responsible for its design and delivery, across a suite of methods. Understanding of education/training/CPD interventions and how they add value in a professional membership. Strong financial and business acumen. Ability to support and get the best from staff and contractors. Understanding of the medical sector, and how CPD and lifelong learning can contribute to the knowledge and skills of medical professionals is desirable but not essential.
