Membership Bespoke is working with a leading technology industry association to recruit an experienced Interim Policy/Public Affairs Specialist - Data Centres for an immediate-start temporary assignment. This is an exceptional opportunity for a senior public affairs, policy or government relations professional to represent a strategically important sector at the highest levels of Government, industry and media. You will act as the trusted voice of the UK data centre industry, leading policy development, stakeholder engagement and advocacy activity across a wide-ranging and fast-moving agenda.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a trusted, knowledgeable and influential spokesperson for the sector across Government, regulators, industry stakeholders and the media.
- Monitor, identify and assess emerging public policy, regulatory and market developments impacting the data infrastructure and data centre sector.
- Research policy implications, gather evidence and communicate potential impacts to industry members and stakeholders.
- Develop and coordinate lobbying, engagement and campaign strategies on priority policy issues.
- Manage multiple complex policy, compliance, market and reputation dossiers, often involving highly technical subject matter and long-term stakeholder engagement.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with partner organisations, trade associations, policymakers and sector representatives.
- Produce clear, engaging and accessible policy briefings, guidance documents and explanatory materials for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Support media engagement activities and ensure the organisation is recognised as a trusted advocate and champion for the sector.
- Lead skills and workforce engagement initiatives through partnerships, outreach programmes and industry publications.
- Provide Secretariat support to the Data Centres Council, facilitating strategic discussions and ensuring effective stakeholder engagement.
- Deliver regular member communications, including policy newsletters, briefings, meetings and stakeholder updates.
About You
We are seeking an experienced policy, public affairs or government relations professional with:
- A strong track record of influencing public policy and regulatory outcomes.
- Experience engaging with Government departments, policymakers, regulators and senior industry stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical or regulatory information into clear and accessible content.
- Experience developing advocacy, lobbying or stakeholder engagement strategies.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
- Confidence operating at senior executive and board level.
- An interest in technology, digital infrastructure, energy, telecommunications or related sectors would be highly advantageous.
