The Role

This is a full time Committees Secretary role supporting the Chief Executive Officer and the work of governance committees, including the Executive Board, Council and Finance. You will provide full administrative support to these committees as well as support the CEO, Independent Chair of the Board, President and other elected officers on institute related activities. You will provide guidance and administrative support on all matters relating to the governance of the membership organisation. You will be used to delivering a full cycle of governance meetings, both face to face and virtual. You will be looking for a varied and busy role where your views and opinions will be important to the development of our work. The ability to plan and work methodically to manage priorities within tight deadlines is key. You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to work on your own initiative, as well as part of a team. You will be committed to your own personal and professional development.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Meeting & Governance Expertise: Experience in formal meeting and agenda management, minute-taking for committees, and governance procedures.
  • Executive Support: Proven experience as an EA with strong communication skills (written and verbal) and the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
  • Stakeholder Management: Confidence in engaging with stakeholders at all levels, using tact and diplomacy.
  • Organisation & Problem-Solving: Ability to manage competing tasks, prioritise effectively, and escalate issues when needed.
  • Resilience & Professionalism: Capacity to work with challenging individuals while maintaining a calm and patient approach.
  • Data & Information Handling: Ability to interpret and present data clearly and handle sensitive and confidential issues with sound judgment.
  • Collaboration & Teamwork: A team player with a proactive, self-starting approach, committed to the team’s success.
  • Attention to Detail: High standards of accuracy and pride in delivering quality work.
  • IT & Digital Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), CRM systems, and social media for communication and monitoring.
  • Financial Awareness: Experience with budgets and financial processes is beneficial.
  • Sector Knowledge: Understanding of membership and qualifying bodies, compliance reporting, governance planning, and risk management is an advantage.
  • Flexibility & Commitment: Willingness to attend meetings outside standard hours and a commitment to continuous learning and best practice.
