Business Development Manager Professional Institute – Membership Body Home Working or Remote or hybrid depending on the location Basic Salary £36,000-38,000 plus benefits: contributory pension scheme and 25 days annual leave plus 10 public Holidays and mileage Permanent, Full Time, 35 Hours per week The post will involve travel to offices (Edinburgh/Bristol) and other necessary travel My client a well-respected and reputable professional institute – membership with offices in Scotland and England is currently looking for a Business Development Manager. If you are a mainly desk based business development manager with experience of grants, writing bids, fundraising in similar environment to a professional institute, academia, university, college, further education, higher education, not for profit, charity we would love to hear from you. The Role To help maximise the potential of the Institute by helping to grow its income, products and services to enable the delivery of its educational activities and programmes. Key Tasks To work with the Executive Director to develop and implement a business development strategy. Significantly increase business revenue, identifying and developing new opportunities (including product development with market research) and building and expanding the presence of the Institute, working with the Senior Management Team to develop a pipeline for opportunities Maximise the income potential of, support the coordination and project management of existing income streams and services Build and grow solid relationships with existing and prospective stakeholders to bring new business opportunities to the Institute Develop a fundraising plan for the Educational and Scientific Trust, to ensure sustainable funding on its grants Work collaboratively and communicate clearly with members, colleagues and partners to monitor engagement and respond to feedback received Collaborate with internal teams, to ensure a cohesive approach to income generation Manage and maintain business relations with external providers General Promote a culture of safe working and ensure Health & Safety procedures are followed Promote a culture of good governance and ensure that governance policies and procedures are followed Adhere to the Institute’s values (attached) in all aspects of your work and your relationship with colleagues, members and others. Knowledge & Experience Educated to degree level or equivalent Experience or an excellent understanding in a business development background corporate partnerships background. Proven ability to establish and drive team discussions, to learn from experience and to improve organisational processes and plans Excellent attention to detail Skills Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop and maintain effective networks Excellent communicator with the ability to have clear, compelling and value-focused conversations and presentations with prospects. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of programmes Proven ability to lead, balance a busy workload and drive several projects at once Organised and a strong project manager, confident in solving problems and securing financial targets.
