My client, a leading UK trade association, is recruiting for a Head of Learning and Development.
The Role
This is a senior leadership role responsible for leading, transforming and commercially growing the organisation’s Learning and Development provision.
You will take ownership of the full training and qualifications portfolio, ensuring it is high-quality, compliant, commercially sustainable and responsive to the needs of members and the wider sector.
The successful candidate will combine a strong regulatory background with a proven track record of driving profitable growth across Learning and Development products and services.
A major focus will be identifying, launching and growing new products and services, including bespoke Learning and Development and consultancy solutions for organisations.
You will also lead transformation across people, processes, systems and ways of working, creating a more commercially focused, efficient and scalable Learning and Development function.
Reporting to the Director of Membership, you will lead the Quality Assurance Manager, E-Learning Manager and Learning and Development Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the organisation’s Learning and Development strategy and portfolio.
- Drive profitable and sustainable growth, increasing revenue, improving margins and identifying new commercial opportunities.
- Develop and launch new learning products, services and consultancy solutions.
- Ensure the portfolio responds to member needs, market demand and regulatory requirements.
- Lead transformation across people, processes, systems and ways of working.
- Oversee digital, blended and face-to-face learning programmes.
- Lead quality assurance, assessment and compliance with relevant regulatory and awarding body requirements.
- Develop commercially viable bespoke learning solutions for organisations and employers.
- Manage external learning partnerships, including universities and other institutions.
- Lead, motivate and develop a high-performing multidisciplinary team.
- Take ownership of budgets, pricing, financial performance and revenue growth.
Essential Criteria
- Significant senior leadership experience within Learning and Development, education, training or professional development.
- Strong experience within a regulated, accredited or quality-assured environment.
- Proven commercial success in growing Learning and Development products or services profitably.
- Experience of launching and growing new products and services, ideally including bespoke learning or consultancy solutions.
- Strong experience of transformation and organisational change, covering people, processes and systems.
- Experience of managing and developing a portfolio of learning products or services.
- Strong understanding of quality assurance, assessment and regulatory requirements.
- Commercial experience including budgets, pricing, financial performance and revenue generation.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management and people skills.
- A values-led leadership style, strong integrity and clear moral compass.
Desirable
- Experience within healthcare or professional education.
- Experience delivering Learning and Development consultancy or bespoke training solutions.
- Experience within a membership organisation, professional body or trade association.
