There is never a dull moment in Local Government and certainly not in housing. This is an opportunity to join the Housing Assets Team as the Building Safety & Assets Compliance lead, staying true to our mission of Helping People, Shaping Places. With our C2 grading from the Regulator of Social Housing in August 2024 following a proactive inspection, we have confidence in our journey so far and in the plans we have to enter the next chapter for housing at Melton Borough Council.

As part of our Housing Asset Team, the role will directly support the Housing Asset Manager. This is an important management role with responsibility for ensuring safe homes for council tenants. You will lead and coordinate delivery, review and continuous improvement of the Council's compliance management plans and associated delivery arrangements, projects and programmes of work.

About you

We are looking for someone that has high level knowledge of gas, electrical, asbestos, fire and water matters related to landlord responsibilities with experience or understanding of performance management, including creating systems to collect and present information, ideally with experience of government data returns.

You will have strong technical knowledge and understanding of Landlords statutory repair and maintenance responsibilities and other related legislation and why this is relevant to ensuring high quality homes and accountable landlord services.

You will be able to plan over a long-term period, including short and long term, evidence based, budget setting.

A relevant professional qualification (such as NEBOSH) would be advantageous, or commitment to work towards a Level 4 qualification with the Chartered Institute for Housing (CIH) alongside significant landlord safety experience and CPD.
