Purpose of the Job

We are looking for a Legal Officer/Paralegal to join us in a new and exciting role.

Every day is different in the Legal Team at Melton Borough Council. We get involved with projects and work at all stages and across all sectors of the Council – from helping Council tenants to buy their homes to prosecuting global companies for food hygiene offences, advising on planning application to negotiating multi-million pound contracts.

We have a clear vision; “Helping People and Shaping Places” – you will be providing support to the legal teams to help with some of these things.

The main areas of work for this role will be supporting the team with:

  • Housing disrepair claims

  • Tenancy management

  • Debt recovery

  • General legal support

About You

You will have the autonomy to manage your own caseload, working closely with and supervised by your colleagues and manager.

Previous experience of working in a legal environment is beneficial but full training will be given to the role.

The role is based in our modern offices in the centre of Melton Mowbray, very close to the Railway Station and with free onsite parking.
